TRILINGUAL SESSION

Iain D Urchardan, author of short stories in Gaelic, and Teresa Solana, author of crime fiction in Catalan, will read from their works and discuss writing in minority languages. There will be simultaneous translations into English from Gaelic by Mòrag Stiùbhart and from Catalan by Peter Bush. Audience members will receive these through individual headphones.

POETRY AND MUSIC

Poet Michael Pedersen and musician Scott Hutchison, frontman of Frightened Rabbit. Oyster is a new book by Pedersen, illustrated by Hutchison that springs to life as a live show invoking powerfully performed poems and a choice cut of Frightened Rabbit’s hits.

HIGHLAND BOOK PRIZE

(presented by The Highland Society of London) http://www.highlandbookprize.org.uk
The winner will be announced at a session on the Saturday evening followed by a reading by and interview with the winning writer. The four shortlisted writers will all read a piece from their books at a free early(ish) Saturday morning session. 

DANCE

Cask Strength Ceilidh Band
The free Sunday early morning session will be readings by members of Stornoway Writers’ Circle.

OUTREACH

Author, poet and storyteller Ian Stephen’s visits will include care homes, the primary school and groups with disabilities.
