So that’s our 2021 online festival finished. And what an 11 weeks it has been. We have so many people to thank. First and foremost the brilliant cast of writers, poets, musicians, chairs – every session was an absolute gem.
But it couldn’t have happened at all without the technical team made up of the excellent cameramen in Ullapool, Glasgow, Lewis and Skye and our own techie here in Ullapool – the amazing, unflappable Martin Gilligan. Add to them the people at StageTEXT who did the captioning/titling of all the events – what a skill!
The festival itself relies on funding. Many thanks to Creative Scotland who made it all possible. Our local funders Ullapool Harbour Trust, Ullapool Bookshop, The Ceilidh Place and the Ullapool News together help pay for the captioning by StageTEXT which made the events accessible to the deaf and the hard of hearing. Thanks to all of you.
To give a flavour of Ullapool we commissioned a tune and a poem to feature at each session. Thanks to Gillie O’Flaherty who composed the beautiful tune which he performed along with Anne Wood. Open Book Ullapool wrote an excellent group poem to celebrate Ullapool which they then recorded – thanks to them too. And we are grateful to the photographers who gave their permission to use their stunning images each week.
And of course it can’t be a festival without an audience. So many thanks to those who bought tickets for the events – your support and lovely feedback has been very much appreciated.
We will see you all back in Ullapool Village Hall in 2022 – put 6 to 8 May in your diaries. We look forward to that!
